JANUARY

Here we are in the depth of winter in no mood  for any gardening or growing projects. Most of the plants in the garden are still in their mid-winter sleep and there are not really any useful growing projects to carry out this month.

So, with the New Year starting it is a good time to basically take stock of the environment around you. It may be just the school yard or the hedgerows around the school, the garden at home or further afield in your local woodland or stream....wherever it is their is all sorts of life going on usually un-noticed. By undertaking environmental projects it will create a greater awareness , interest and understanding of the environment.

We suggest several projects that can be carried on throughout the year in identifying and recording various aspects of the environment.

For those interested in more advanced environmental projects take a look at the river and stream projects on www.streamscapes.org or you may get some inspiration from RTE's Mooneygoeswild at www.rte.ie/mooneygoeswild.org
